BRODIE ENGINEERING 5 MILE ROAD RACE - Past Results

 

The Brodie Engineering 5 Mile road race takes place in July each year starting at Irvine Railway station and finishing at the Maritime Museum. The race is ru on a flat and fast course heading out to the Gailes hotel and returning via Marine Drive. The race is under threat from increasing road closure costs and is currently under review.

 

 

JIM YOUNG MARYMASS 10K ROAD RACE - Past Results

 

The Jim Young Marymass 10k is held in August each year during the Marymass festival. The race starts at Irvine Victoria football ground, heads out to the gailes hotel, back to the lighthouse at the beach park and finishes at the Maritime museum. As with the 5 Mile road race, this race is under review and a new route will be provided for the 2017 event.

 

 

CHICK FORBES TROPHY - Past Results

 

Chick Forbes was an inspiration to Irvine AC runners for over 40 years both as a competitor and as a coach and following his death in 2005 a club race has been held annually in his memory. The current format of this race is a two mile time trial run over tarmac pathways on Irvine Moor. The race is organised as a handicap with runners setting off in groups according to current form based on any relevant information provided at registration.

All competitors will receive an accurate time for their 2 mile run and the first runner to finish will hold the Chick Forbes trophy for one year.

The 2016 race will take place on the 30th of October at 12pm. Registration is from 10am at Irvine sports club and is free to enter.

 

 

CYCLISTS V HARRIERS - Past Results

 

The cyclists v harriers is a race between cyclists and runners and starts and finishes at Irvine sports club. The race is roughly 5 miles long which takes place on paths and over the moor and includes various obstacles to try and make the event as fair as possible.

The 2016 race will take place on the 18th of December at 1pm. Registration is from 11am at Irvine Sports club.

 

 

XMAS HANDICAP - Past Results

 

The xmas handicap is approximately 2.7 miles long and run on tarmac paths in and around Irvine moor. The race was reinstated in 1970 and has been on the calendar ever since and in recent years has seen Rons runners compete and help out at the event. Entry is by donation of a small prize of between £3 & £5 which is placed on the prize table for all competitors to choose a prize in order of their finishing position.

The 2016 race will take place on the 27th of December at 1pm. Registration is from 11am at Irvine sports club and as previously mentioned a small prize worth between £3 & £5 is the entry fee.
