Training

Adult training

Adult training takes place at Irvine Sports Club from 7pm to 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, meeting in the foyer from 6.45pm. Training is free for the first 4 weeks. To join the club the fees are £60 per year which can be made as a one off payment or taken by standing order at £5 per month.

There are a variety of different training sessions available throughout the year which include intervals, hills, short runs and long runs. These training sessions will usually take place on the paths and roads of Irvine, the beach park, Irvine moor or on the 400m track located behind the sports club.

If you are interested in joining the club or coming along for a taster session you can turn up at one of our training nights or speak to the male or female club captains listed below.

Junior training

The junior section is for boys and girls aged 8 to 16 and takes place on the sports fields at the sports club each Tuesday and Thursday between 6 and 7pm. We have four Scottish Athletics coaches training the youngsters in initially the basics of balance, co-ordination and agility then moving into the athletics disciplines of running, jumping  and throwing using the range of sports equipment we currently hold.

The fees are either £1 per week (covers both nights) or a £37.50 bank payment which covers the session year which is from June to the end of May the following year. You cam come down for a few weeks to see how you get on before deciding to join
